dA CROSSROADS
Da Crossroads
I was beat up and torn down,
And tired of paying dues.
So, I went down to the crossroads,
To try to lose my blues.
I saw a man with a guitar,
Pointing his finger at me.
I asked if he had an offer,
This is what he said to me…
If you give me what I want,
I'll give you what you think you need. [Repeat]
I had a worn out spirit,
And my soul was wearing thin.
I was running close to empty,
While the dogs was closing in.
I saw a man with a guitar,
Playing that sweet rock-n-roll.
I asked if he had the answer,
He said just give me some soul…
If you give me what I want,
I'll give you what you think you need. [Repeat]
I didn't have to think.
I didn't have to fret.
I didn't have to place the winning bet.
The dogs got tired.
The trail went cold.
The sherif got bought, and the sheriff got sold.
I didn't have to work.
I didn't have to sweat.
And what's better yet… I'll tell ya'.
I didn't have to run.
I didn't have to hide.
Sweat Nike was running by my side.
Yeah, I got it. I got everything.
I got anything I dreamed [how sweet it is].
I got Mercurys, I got Mercedes Benz.
I got accountants and lawyers who say they're my "friends".
I got televisions and weapons galore.
I have all these truly wonderful things.
I went on vacations. I collected souvenirs.
I hung out with celebrities and pierced both my ears.
I stayed in 5 star hotels, bought whistles and bells.
I got credit cards and drank like a fish in luxury bars.
NowI have all these truly wonderful things.
I have all these things and they won't set me free.
[repeat]
